The Montenegro Adventure Race, which seemed like a good idea at the time

Since I missed the London Triathlon this year, I decided it would be a good idea to take part in the Montenegro Adventure Race. Right now, I can’t remember why it seemed like a good idea, but there you go. So on the 6th October I’m going to kayak across the bay, cycle up a mountain and then fall off it while trying to run along a narrow ridge. I’m also going to be doing this with a team of 3 people that I don’t know, since I signed up late for the event. I haven’t trained for nearly three weeks and I’m going to be arriving in Montenegro at 11pm the night before the race.

Let’s roll!

As Google sends us daily alerts about internet references to Montenegro, we have become aware of your race and will be looking forward to your report on this adventure.
My husband and I (in our late 50s) will be spending a couple of weeks in Montenegro next summer.
Initially we were only planning to visit the north country (the Durmitor and Tara River) to participate in some of the eco-tourism offered by Vila Jelka.
But perhaps we need to visit the Kotor/cetinje area as well.
What mountain ridge do you plan to fall from?

We’re going to be running over the Vrmac ridge, which cuts between the inner and outer bay. The views should be amazing if we haven’t passed out from heatstroke by then. Apparently we’re finishing in Gornja Lastva, which is an eco village somewhere on the mountain.

I’d definitely recommend a day trip to the bay if you’re going to be in Montenegro anyway. It really is quite beautiful, although in the summer it will be very busy.

You must have read my mind – I was just sitting down to write a post about the race. The short version – my team was nowhere near winning, but we had a great time anyway. The long version will follow!
